Don't look so worried Nicole, it's early days!

Do you think Nicole has been monitoring how Australia is faring since its release two days ago? Most likely. The film is currently coming 7th at the Box Office in the USA. It's doing a little better Down Under, although not as good as the new 007 James Bond movie - which made over $1 million more in its first day than what Australia did. Perhaps that means the Aussies prefer James Bond over their 'Princess'. It can't be true.
Over at the famous Rotten Tomatoes Website, Australia is sitting at 51% on the 'tomatometer'. The website contains the following consensus on the film: Built on lavish vistas and impeccable production, Australia is unfortunately burdened with thinly drawn characters and a lack of originality.
Try not to worry Nicole! Things might turn around during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and the all important US Box Office might come good with this turkey. Then again it may not. At the end of the day, at least you still got paid!

Interesting choice... I read somewhere last night that kidman was scheduled to appear on The View talk show today...and I was actually interested in tuning in just to see how kidman was dealing with the movies shabby gross...not that I expected any of the host's to bring that up of course...but still....but the show in my area is being preempted by football...so will have to look for it online...or maybe you can post it when it becomes available... again, should be interesting....

Here is something from Ted Casablanca (ha ha ha) ---

Nicole Kidman: Plucked

As if having her bodyguard beating up the paparazzi wasn't enough (yeah, I'll let that one go about as soon as I forget about Prop 8 passing), now comes dishy word from the Down Under set of Australia, the epic Aussie tale from usually genius director Baz Luhrmann. Have any idea what it's about? If you guessed something to do with Nicole's immovable feast of a forehead, you'd be darling and correct.

Incomparable Australia sources who worked on both production and postproduction for the flick insist exclusively to the Awful Truth that Ms. Kidman's forehead was "a big concern." How much so? "Throughout the entire production," sassed one of our top level Australia sources, "everyone on set was really worried about [Kidman] not being able to make facial expressions." Apparently, not many of those Nicole-powered facial tics came to be, as computer generated effects were ultimately required. Don't you just hate it when that happens?

"New technology," we're assured by our computer-savvy insiders, was utilized in postproduction, "to give her face a bit more…life. That's how bad it got." Jeez, Nic, is this the result from Sunday Rose being such a damn well-behaved baby? I mean, since she never cries, as you have so proudly state, do you have no practice making frown or fret lines any more? Oh, and we do hear that kid of yours was practically immaculately conceived, more on that Kidman mysteriousness after the holidays, promise.

The epic came in at #5 for the weekend. Not a good start for a picture that cost $180 million to make. Will it pick up momentum or be pulled from US screens in 2 1/2 weeks?

About that ted casablanca gossip...I heard the same rumor on Golden Compass... it was such a CGI-fest, I guess they figured they could just "stencil" in emotional expression to kidman's face. That could be the reason the bazzster decided to overdose on the CGI on Australia...as just an excuse to give kidman some emotions!
