Fake hair, but fake coat too?

Filming for Nine continued in Italy yesterday. As you may be aware, Nicole has a reasonably small part in this film as a hooker, oops, I mean lover of Daniel Day Lewis's character. These latest scenes show Nicole in one of her wigs and a fur coat. Let's hope the coat is fake too, otherwise PETA will get stuck into her!

In the top car scene above, Nicole is smoking a cigarette. Do you think Nicole would have loved this part of the role? A chance to light up? Silly me, she doesn't smoke anymore. Completely natural, remember.

Lars and the Real Girl

Nicole was back on the set of Nine yesterday, a film which many are hoping is her last movie. Filming has shifted to Italy now, where car scenes with Daniel Day-Lewis took place, as shown above.

But hang on, we all thought she was in hiding, right? Well she probably still is, because if you look closely at the film shots above, she looks like one of those life-like dolls seen in the movie Lars and the Real Girl. Perhaps a mannequin has stepped in until the film is completed. I ask you then, is it the same mannequin spotted walking around Italy a day earlier in a black cap and sunglasses? Or was it Michael Jackson? It's so hard to tell these days with those extra large sunglasses that are all the rage!

Baz: UnAustralian of the Year

Following the Australia Day celebrations, local magazine Zoo Weekly has named Baz Luhrmann "UnAustralian of the Year" for his film Australia. The magazine have called the film an "embarrassment". Baz came top of their list following worldwide criticism of the film.

"Australia was supposed to be something to make all Aussies proud and sell the Lucky Country to the world," said Zoo editor Paul Merrill.
"Instead it was an embarrassment. Turning our proud history into a dismal love story full of cliches is not something we will forgive easily."

Top spot should have been a tie between Baz and Nicole!

Nicoles does a Marilyn in NY City

Yesterday in New York City, Nicole practiced for her audition for the remake of "Gentlemen Prefer Strawberry Blondes".  Nicole did various twirls to ensure the wind flowed under the dress the same way it did for Marilyn many years ago. The main difference is that Marilyn had a much nicer dress on.

"G'Day New York, da ya like my hair extensions?"

After skipping the recent G'Day LA celebrations, Nicole came out of hiding to join fellow Australia cast members for the G'Day Australia Black Tie Gala at New York City last Friday. As we all know, Nicole loves to bring out her black outfits, so this was as good a time as any to come out of hiding.  In case you were wondering, Nicole has been hanging low in Nashville after worldwide criticism of her acting.

Unfortunately, Nicole was put on the spot and asked to give a speech at the dinner. Nicole is a terribly shy person so you can imagine how she must have felt having to speak and make sense infront of all those people. Oh well, at least she had her beautiful long hair extensions on and face and lips all glossed up. Imagine turning up accidentally in your black gym gear? Just as well she was able to read the invitation properly beforehand.

Baz Luhrmann is standing by Nicole, as can be seen by the usual cuddle shots between these two. After saying some weeks ago he would never work with her again, he has asked everybody to lay off criticising her otherwise she may retire permanently. Cool, that means more roles that Kate Winslet can do her magic with.

Nicole gets licked

Four Australian actors were named the 2009 Australia Post Australian Legends, and will feature on a series of eight stamps. The actors include Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchette, Russell Crowe and Geoffrey Rush. Each actor features on two stamps - one a portrait and one featuring them in one of their films. Australia Post said that the actors were tremendous ambassadors for Australia on the world stage. All actors were thrilled to receive the honour and to see themselves on stamps. Nicole responded by saying "I want my children to live here at certain times of their life and see how wonderful it is".

I imagine that with the release of Nicole Kidman stamps, emailing will suddenly become the most preferred method of communication in this country. Why is Nicole considered a tremendous ambassador by Australia Post? All shes does is make flop after flop movie, and in the process embarrass her fellow Australians. Please let on if you know the reason. And why does she want her children to live here sometime, when she won't herself. Unlike Cate, Russell and Geoffrey who all live here, Nicole wouldn't dream of it. That's why she hasn't lived here since 1989.
Another question for you. Why did our former Prime Minister twice add her to the Australian of the Year nomination list when more deserving people should have come before her? He would ramble on about her contribution to film (that is her job for Pete's sake, do the rest of us get a nomination for our work?), and her charity work (this is once in a blue moon, when she visits Sydney Children's Hospital - these are just photo opportunities for her). Any clues?

Would you like to watch fine acting?

Feel like watching some fine acting? Feel like seeing why Kate Winslet is one of the most respected actors in the film industry? Then check out the new film Revolutionary Road starring Kate and Leonardo DiCaprio. Kate delivers an incredible performance with a range of emotions you don't often see in other female actors. Leonardo also delivers an exceptional performance. Good to see these two together again after 1997's Titanic.

On another note, Kate Winslet reportedly stepped in to replace Nicole Kidman in The Reader after Nicole withdrew because of pregnancy. In actual fact, Kate was the first choice for this role but declined due to filming committments for Revolutionary Road. Director Stephen Daldry then decided to wait for Kate (following Nicole's withdrawal) once filming was completed. Kate has been nominated for awards for both performances, and to date has won a Golden Globe for Revolutionary Road.

The lower right photo is a shot of Nicole on the set of Australia. This photo shows Nicole heavily botoxed. Unfortunately, she would be unable to express the range of emotions required for 'The Reader' if she had taken the role. I've also heard that fine acting is not a term associated with Nicole.

Read the Lainey Gossip comment on 'The Reader' here. Lainey agrees that the film would not have been the same with Kidman.

Nicole skips 'G'day LA' event

Good to see Nicole taking time out from the attention she normally craves by skipping the Golden Globes, and yesterday's annual G'day LA Gala event. You may recall Nicole originally met Keith at this annual event in 2005 (photo of Nicole at the 2005 event bottom right). Nicole may also be hanging low after some less than flattering snapshots were taken of her in recent weeks.

Yesterday's G'day LA event was attended by a range of Aussie export stars, US stars, and ministers and officials from the Australian tourism industry. Aussie stars included Rachel Griffiths, Eric Bana, Melissa George, Poppy Montgomery, Olivia Newton-John and her new husband.

Rachel Griffiths was presented with an award for excellence in film and television by her Brothers And Sisters co-star Sally Field. Eric Bana also received an award. Melissa George, previously an Aussie soap star, and now part of the the Grey's Anatomy cast, became a US citizen in recent times. Melissa was also seen in the 2005 remake of Amityville Horror.

Perhaps Nicole really is semi-retiring as she said she would. How will the Paps cope without her presence? How will Nicole cope without the cameras?

Read my lips (Part 2)

Nicole was in such a hurry to get her morning Starbucks coffee earlier this week that she forgot to look in the mirror first.  This will become one of those classic Kidman shots that we have come to love.  However, for all we know it may have all been planned.

Nicole's comeback film

Have you seen Mickey Rourke's new movie The Wrestler? It's a good film, despite having to look at the dreadful plastic surgery disaster which Mickey has become over the years. Might be a good warning to others.

Anyway, Mickey has long blonde hair in the movie (see left photo above). With the hair and his plastic surgery, there were times I thought I was looking at Nicole. Can you see how this occurred based on the shot of Nicole above?

Why tall women prefer short men, and vice versa

A friend was asking me the other day why I thought Nicole married a short guy again. And then of course Tom married a tall woman again.  In the show business world, it is all about true love remember. But let's dissect it further ...

Nicole really stuck out when she stood next to Tom, and the same with Keith too. Nicole likes to be in the spotlight, and it's a power thing as  well.  But what about for short men? Why do they like standing next to a tall woman. To look straight at their breasts? Of course not,  but that's probably part of it. The simple reason is that they like the woman to pat them on the head easily when they have done a good job of mowing the grass.

By the way, now you know that Katie Holmes is much taller than Nicole Kidman.

Nic picks at her performance

Nicole has rightfully picked at her performance in Australia, admitting that she could barely watch the movie at the Sydney premiere.  Alot of people have criticised Nicole's poor acting, and it seems she is not pleased with it either.

Nicole has revealed she "squirmed" in her seat throughout the premiere because she was so uncomfortable watching herself on screen. She stated: I can't look at this movie and be proud of what I've done. I sat there, and I looked at Keith and went, 'Am I any good in this movie? Let's hope Keith told her the truth!

Apparently Nicole was so nervous about her performance she fled Australia as soon as the premiere was over with husband Keith Urban and their five-month-old daughter Sunday Rose.  This last part is what newspapers are reporting. Wrong though, Sunday Rose was back in Nashville which is the why the trip was rushed. Nicole had to return to relieve the Nanny. She already knew the critics would hate her acting in the film before she arrived in Sydney.

Nicole told Australian radio station 2dayFM: "We ran because I didn't want to read anything. I didn't want to know. I saw my sister and my family and we saw Keith's family and then we were straight on a plane."

Nicole has often admitted she never watches her own movies (except for Moulin Rouge). Is this because she knows deep down inside she is a poor actress?

Read my lips: "I've had no work done!"

I'M BACK!  Firstly, a Happy New Year to my fellow Blog readers. I look forward to you re-joining me in 2009 on Nicole's journey of life.

Nicole once had thin lips which suited her, I thought. However, things changed when her face left the building for a range of procedures.

First we had the nose job back in the 90's, followed by the freckles removal, the boob job, and the botox injections. Last, but not least, the collagen-filled super lips arrived, reaching their full potential in the Australia movie. Based on Keith's hand signal, I think he likes the latest lips. Some men prefer Mick Jagger lips for a variety of reasons.

Anyway, if you ever doubted that Nicole has had any work done on her lips, just check out the above left photo for the injection mark. I realise it is hard to believe this photo considering Ms Kidman has denied ever having any work done. Afterall, completely natural women don't need to.

NOTE: Only a couple of days left to vote on the latest Poll.  Make your vote count. Results will be sent to all film directors.
