Cate Blanchett: Voted Best Australian Actress

The most recent Poll asking 'Who is Australia's Best Actress' has now closed. Cate Blanchett is our best actress after taking out 57% of the votes. Nicole came in second with 23%, followed by Toni Colette, Judy Davis and Naomi Watts.

Cate is richly deserving of this honor. Here are 10 reasons why:
  1. Classically trained in dramatic arts.
  2. Chooses great film roles more often than not.
  3. Gracefully acknowledged Gwyneth Paltrow for her 1998 Oscar win for "Shakespeare in Love" when everybody knew Cate should have received it for "Elizabeth".
  4. Everybody speaks highly of Cate.
  5. Current Co-Director of the Sydney Theatre Company, with husband Andrew Upton.
  6. Lives in Australia and is proud of it.
  7. Supports an Eco-friendly environment for us all.
  8. Does not seek attention (NOT a fame whore). Therefore, the Australian media leave her in peace.
  9. She is not in the papers every other day expressing her deep inner thoughts.
  10. Totally likeable person.

Hey, congratulations Cate... and to you Choice for actually getting a poll of integrity! Without those thousands upon thousands of votes, kidman doesn't have a chance.

Thanks Maclen. Perhaps there are Nic fans out there who still prefer Cate's style and therefore voted accordingly. I often heard people say there is no comparison between the two. Like chalk and cheese.
CATE - WELL DONE!

She is not even in the same League as The Kidman. Nicole is one of the greatest Actresses alive today!!!

Meade: I would suggest you go and see some of Cate's films.

You didn't see Oscar and Lucinda, Elizabeth, The Lord of the Rings, Veronica Guerin, The Aviator, Coffee & Cigarrettes, Babel, Notes on a Scandal, Little Fish, The Good german, I'm Not There. Or I'm Wrong?

I have seen Cates film. She got nothing on Kidman. Nicole is a great actress and so beautiful. Nicole Kidman is breath taking in everything she plays. She is great at comedy, drama, and she can sing and dance her way into your heart. I love Nicole Kidman. She is wonderful. She is a natural talent. I think a lot of folks are just jealous.

well for me, with a few exceptions (Eyes Wide Shut, The Others, The Hours and Dogville) Kidman had almost play the same role with the same tone over and over again. Especially if we compare her performances in "Birth" and "Fur" (Same voice, same manerysm even the same mechanical process of act). Her ichy B*tch. That wouldn't be bad if she would chance her comfort zone, like Samantha Morton and Michelle Williams. Both actresses play that kind of characters, but they aren't repetitive. about you say Kidman is good in comedy, many of her worst and overacting performances are for Comedy. "Practical Magic" (Even Bullock looks better), "Bewitched" and "Australia" are examples of that

Blanchett for the other hand, like Collette (Underrated australian actress) she has taste. Her best films are "Heaven", "Elizabeth" and especially "little Fish"

Well they are both great actresses. Nicole is no doubt more well-known to the public but to say that Cate is not in her league shows a clear lack of knowledge on Hollywood. During an interview a couple of years back, Nicole was asked if she is like the 'queen of Australia'. She replied 'No. Cate Blanchett is. I am the Maid of Honour'
